Clinical Functional Imaging Lab
Advancing the understanding of brain function through multimodal neuroimaging research at the Department of Nuclear Medicine (Director: Univ.-Prof. Markus Essler), University Hospital Bonn
ABOUT THE LAB
Multimodal Neuroimaging Research
Led by Prof. Dr. Henning Boecker, the Clinical Functional Imaging Lab at the University Hospital Bonn uses advanced neuroimaging modalities including PET, SPECT, functional MRI, perfusion MRI, structural MRI and diffusion imaging to investigate brain-behavior relationships in health and neurodegenerative disease conditions.

RESEARCH FOCUS
Our research is an interdisciplinary undertaking, encompassing the domains of sensorimotor and cognitive neuroscience, and multimodal human in vivo imaging. The overarching objective of this research is to enhance comprehension of how neurodegenerative disease conditions shape deviant network topologies in the human brain and how physical activity and targeted modulation of dedicated brain networks influence brain network communication in aging and neurodegeneration. This encompasses the implementation of human intervention studies with a focus on neuromodulation and neuroprevention.
