FTD outpatient unit
Frontotemporal dementias (FTD) are a group of diseases in which there is progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the frontal (frontal) and temporal (temporal) lobes of the brain. This is accompanied by a loss of the functions controlled by these brain regions. These are primarily the control of our (social) behavior and speech.
Behavioral Variant
The behavioral variant (behavioral variant) is characterized by different, profound disturbances of the behavior. These include disinhibited and socially inappropriate behavior, a disturbance of drive and empathy, and a disturbed eating behavior.
Language variants
There are several forms of language-related disorders now known as Primary Progressive Aphasia, including a form in which linguistic expression, especially grammar, is affected (agrammatic PPA) and a form in which the meaning of words and concepts is lost (semantic PPA). Primary progressive speech apraxia is characterized by a progressive disorder of articulation. FTD spectrum disorders
Symptoms of FTD are also found in clinical pictures in which various aspects of motor function are also disturbed. These include corticobasal syndrome, progressive supranuclear gaze paresis and motor neuron diseases.
