Inpatient admission
After an outpatient presentation in one of our special outpatient clinics, the decision can be made for further inpatient clarification or treatment. A direct inpatient admission can also be arranged after consultation with the corresponding outpatient doctor.
The inpatient admission planning is coordinated by our ward. Appointment cancellations and rescheduling can be made through this office:
Mon - Fri: 1 pm - 3 pm
Tel.: +49 228 287-16845
The accommodation of the inpatients is usually in the NPP building 80 on ward 1 (3rd floor of the clinic, care support point: Tel.: +49 228 287-31600).
For an inpatient admission are required:
- Identity card
- Health insurance card or insurance data
- List of currently taken medications
- Medical written preliminary findings from your neurologist or referring physician as well as existing imaging (data carriers / CDs), laboratory values, etc.
- If applicable: information sheet for lumbar puncture (read through and filled in as far as possible)
- In-patient referral from your general practitioner or specialist (if you have not been to our out-patient clinic before)
- If required: Your visual aid, hearing aid or walking aid, sturdy shoes
- If available: living will, care certificates
Please note the following before taking the picture:
- If a lumbar puncture is planned for you, blood-thinning medication should be paused accordingly before admission. Patients who have blood-thinning medication in their long-term medication should consult their family doctor and clarify whether they can stop taking it and/or whether it is necessary to switch to other therapeutic anticoagulation (heparin).
- This refers specifically to drugs from the group of oral anticoagulants such as Marcumar and direct oral antagonists (DOAK/NOAK) such as Rivaroxaban, Apixaban, Edoxaban or Dabigatran.
- Acetylsalicylic acid (e.g. ASS) or Clopidogrel (Plavix) do not need to be paused.
On the day of admission:
Please come to the entrance hall of the NPP at 8:00 / 8:30 a.m. and take a waiting mark on the left side of the information desk. You will be called with this number to register. After the registration you go to the 3rd floor of ward 1 and report to the ward base.
We look forward to seeing you and wish you a pleasant stay with us.
