Cell isolation from whole blood

PBMCs (peripheral blood mononuclear cells) can be isolated automatically or manually using density gradient centrifugation. The automated isolation of specific cell populations are performed using the RoboSep™-S, which enables cell separation based on surface markers. The advantage of automated cell isolation is that also small volumes of blood can be applied. The scope of the isolations includes:

  • Sterile, automated or manual isolation of PBMCs
  • Automated, sterile isolation of specific cell populations
  • Determination of cell number, purity and viability
  • Cryopreservation and storage at -150°C

You can find a list of available isolation kits on:
https://www.stemcell.com/products/popular-product-types/cell-isolation-products.html?application=Cell+Isolation
We are also happy to establish the isolation of individual cell subpopulations as needed.

Nucleic acid extraction

Nucleic acid extraction is automated and standardized using the Maxwell Benchtop Automated DNA/RNA Extractor, which also allows further analysis by NGS or qPCR. The service includes:

  • Automated isolation of DNA or RNA
  • Concentration determination and adjustment to target concentration
  • Aliquoting and storage of nucleic acids at -80°C

ELISA

With manual and automated ELISA analysis using the EUROIMMUN Analyzer I, BioBank Bonn offers a comprehensive service for the analysis of a wide range of parameters. The scope of services includes:

  • Fully automated analysis of antibodies and antigens with validated EUROIMMUN kits (autoimmune and infection diagnostics)
  • Establishment and performance of manual ELISAs
  • Sample preparation, measurement, evaluation and data transfer

You can find all available EUROIMMUN parameters on:
https://www.euroimmun.de/de/produkte/
Please contact us for the performance of manual ELISAs.

Measurement specific parameters by the Zentrallabor

The Organization of the BioBank Bonn is tightly connected to the Zentrallabor, allowing samples to be prepared for the analysis of specific parameters in the Zentrallabor. This service includes:

  • Preparation of sample lists and sample registration in the Zentrallabor
  • Planning of measurements in consultation with the Zentrallabor
  • Sample preparation and transfer to the Zentrallabor
  • Data transfer to the customer

You can find the list of services provided by the Zentrallabor on: https://www.ukbonn.de/ikckp/zentrallabor/leistungsverzeichnis/

Preparation of tissue sections

For research projects without a diagnostic context, tissue sections can be prepared by the pathology department. This is only possible in consultation with the head of pathology and depends on the scope of the project. In principle, this service is dependent on project-specific requirements. Possible laboratory services include:

Preparation of FFPE samples
Preparation of an unstained sections
HE staining
Histochemical staining (by arrangement)
Storage and documentation of the processed samples

Sample preparation for Core Facility Services (Bonn Technology Campus)

Biobank samples can be processed/prepared by BioBank Bonn for further analysis in the Next Generation Sequencing, Proteomics or Cell Programming Core Facility. This service includes:

  • Preparation of sample lists and order entry/coordination with the corresponding Core Facility unit
  • Planning sample analyses in consultation with the Core Facility
  • Adapted sample preparation and handover to the core facility
  • Data transfer to the customer if required

Automated batch aliquoting

For research projects/studies with a large sample collective, which are self-administered and are not recorded in BioBank Bonn, BioBank offers automated batch aliquoting with the Hamilton aliquotter. This service includes:

  • Preparation of the primary sample
  • Barcode creation for processing in the BioBank
  • Method adaption and test runs
  •  Aliquoting into 0.5 ml barcode tubes

Multiplex digital PCR

Multiplex PCR is performed using the Naica® Geode thermal cycler and the Naica® Prism3 reader from Stilla Technologies. The digital PCR offers a very precise quantification of several defined nucleic acids simultaneously. The method is based on a chip technology during which the samples are split into 2D droplet arrays.

  • Automated isolation of DNA
  • Determination of concentrations and adjustment to target concentration
  • Sample preparation, amplification, (analysis) and data transfer

Prices

All chargeable services are planned individually with the project partners and the corresponding costs are calculated on a project-specific basis. Prices are based on material costs and the effort involved in sample processing/preparation. For detailed planning and individual quotes, please contact the management of BioBank Bonn directly. Please also note that our chargeable additional services are dependent on available capacities.
