Experience from clinical practice shows us that, even today, caring for those affected with these disorders is still a significant challenge and correctly diagnosing the disorder, recognizing its underlying cause, and providing adequate therapy, is a challenge which requires close cooperation among various disciplines. In order to close these gaps in care, specific competencies from the Departments of Epileptology, Psychiatry and Psychosomatics are bundled at the University Hospital of Bonn, and an interdisciplinary, transsectional, treatment pathway is established. An important first step is collaborating with regard to those patients having non-epileptic seizures who must often travel a long way throughout the healthcare system before their condition is classified properly and treated optimally.
In order to report on these developments in light of current concepts, we have recruited top-notch speakers for our symposium who, in addition to their scientific expertise, have extensive clinical experience with regard to diagnostics, therapy, and care of patients with dissociative and functional disorders. After the scientific segments have concluded, we will then hold two workshops in order to intensify your practical skills for clinical work.
We are very much looking forward to your participation and a lively exchange on this practically relevant and exciting topic!
With kind regards
Prof. Dr. A. Philipsen Prof. Dr. F. Geiser Prof. Dr. R. Surges
