The group’s research focuses on the etiology and preclinical detection of eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and keratoconus. By integrating clinical expertise with molecular deep phenotyping, genetic epidemiology and advanced high-resolution imaging of the eye and brain the group aims to characterize early structural and molecular alterations along the pathophysiological continuum of ocular disease. A central goal is to establish a biologically grounded framework for precision patient stratification and the development of targeted therapeutic strategies.
