17th Symposium on Interventions and Surgery in Congenital Heart Defects

"Materials - Political decisions leading to serious consequences”
Studentischer Herztag an dem Universitätsklinikum Bonn

Complex medical interventions require the close cooperation of many specialists from different fields, but also the development and use of unique tools that cannot always be profitably produced in high quantities, especially in the paediatric field. Due to the new regulations (MDR - medical device regulations) of the EU Parliament and the different strategies of the companies to deal with them, many materials and catheters known to us have disappeared or are at least temporarily no longer available. On the one hand, we want to analyse the situation, on the other hand, we want to show possible alternatives and finally think about how we can deal with this in the future. In addition, we will of course present and discuss new developments in the interventional and operative field with our international speakers. Involved this time are the departments of paediatric anaesthesia, paediatric cardiac surgery, paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery, which is now increasingly concerned with the surgical care of adults with congenital heart disease.

As always, we plan to present 3 - 4 live cases from the cardiac catheterisation laboratory and 2 operations from paediatric cardiac surgery and adult cardiac surgery. We were able to win Prof. Sir Shakeel Qureshi from London (UK) and Prof. Viktor Hraska from Wisconsin (USA) as internationally renowned presenters. The specialist lectures will therefore be held in English.

The MediLive company will again be responsible for the professional transmission of the "live cases" from the catheter laboratory and the cardiac surgery operating theatres. The event is supported by the industry and registered with the Academy for Continuing Medical Education of the North Rhine Medical Association. We are proud to be able to have students from the University of Bonn participate this year and look forward to their contributions on this important topic.

It's finally starting again and we look forward to your questions and suggestions as well as exciting discussions.
