Innovative Secure Medical Campus
Innovative Secure Medical Campus of the University Hospital Bonn
In cooperation with the Cyber Security Cluster, the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) has launched the innovative "Innovative Secure Medical Campus" (ISMC) digitalization project, which is unique in Germany. ISMC will run for three years and is supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with funding of up to 17.5 million euros. The state competence platform for artificial intelligence KI.NRW is the patron of the project and has included the ISMC in its AI flagship initiative.
Using state-of-the-art technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and surgical robotics, the UKB is pioneering a medical campus of the future with its Innovative Secure Medical Campus. This involves a secure, comprehensive digitalization solution that optimizes the diagnosis and treatment of patients, including robotic surgery, as well as general processes, e.g. Smart Parking Patient Journey on campus between the various departments of the UKB. The testing of new digital processes in patient care should also benefit other clinics in the future and contribute to the modernization of the German healthcare system.
The topics of the ISMC can be divided into three
three main categories:
Bonn Surgical Technology Center
In addition to the activities directly on the UKB campus, the ISMC is also dedicated to the development of the Bonn Surgical Technology Center (BOSTER), a technology location and hub of the UKB on the Bonner Bogen. As part of the ISMC, a place is being created here where innovation is thought through and ultimately researched right up to the operating theater or patient bedside.
Surgical medicine at the UKB will be both a pioneer and a transformation channel from vision to implementation - from code to bedside, so to speak.
