Cyber Security & Detection Response

Security by design - this is the guiding principle behind all innovations at the UKB. The ISMC aims to increase resilience to cyber attacks and other events that endanger patient care. To this end, an overall cyber security concept has already been developed for the maximum care provider, information security risk assessments have been created and finally the development of an overall hospital situation map has been initiated. This shows AI-supported recommendations for action to minimize the impact of cyber attacks and other incidents on patient care.

Together with a strong external partner (Telekom Security), the UKB has created its own Security Operation Center (UKB SOC) within this overall concept to monitor the IT security situation. Cyber attacks on the UKB are not only automatically detected using AI, but are also handled automatically in the response. The AI is used in particular for automated anomaly detection. The UKB SOC went into operation in August 2023 and is being continuously expanded. The result is an overarching UKB overall situation picture, which, in addition to the cyber security threat situation, also depicts other, for example, workload-specific information.

ISMC's cyber security concept has already prevailed over its competitors at Digital X and won first place in the "Security" category.
