Psychological support
An oncological disease represents a massive turning point in the life of the affected child or adolescent and his family. The treatment and possible consequences of the disease represent a major challenge for the entire family.
The support serves to activate resources to cope with the disease and to promote the quality of life. In addition to counseling and supportive talks, behavioral therapy methods are used to cope with fear and pain. The goals are set in consultation with the patients and their families.
Psychological support includes
- Information about the disease
- Development of an age-appropriate understanding of the disease in children and adolescents
- Promotion of skills for active participation during treatment
- Preparation for medical and nursing measures
- Advice and assistance in personal crisis situations
- Helping parents and siblings cope with illness
- Advice in the context of outpatient aftercare
The offers are aimed at all families and are tailored to the individual needs and developmental level of the child or young person. All patients and families can come to us with questions or a request for advice.
