Our newly renovated PET facilities include besides one of the most recent hybrid PET/CT devices everything which is necessary for a fast workflow and as much comfort for the patient as possible.

The Philips Vereos PET system is equipped with Silicon Photomultipliers with a one-to-one coupling to scintillation crystals for a maximum of sensitivity and spatial resolution. Besides vey high quality images, the high sensitivity allows for a short scan time and a low radiation dose of the examination.
 

This high-end PET-machine is completed with several devices to further improve image quality and applicability. ECG and respiratory gating is available for even better image quality of the heart, the lung and the upper abdomen. All examinations can be performed on a carbon made flat table allowing imaging in radiation treatment position. For this purpose, the examination room is also equipped with a laser positioning system. This allows optimal examination conditions for use of the PET images in radiation therapy treatment planning. For children or patients which are not capable of lying for the short examination time still, the room is equipped with all necessary infrastructure to allow our colleagues from the Department of Anesthesia to perform a fully controlled anesthesia during the PET examination.
