Information for patients
If you are arriving at our PET center you first should go on to the administration desk for your personal data to be taken to our system. Please also handle all medical reports and information about your diseases to the member of staff. This is important for are precision diagnosis of your examinations. After the paperwork you can take a seat in our waiting area. The next step is a interview with one of our physicians including informing you about the imaging procedure.
After this you can take a seat in our new injection and incubation room were one of our technicians will prepare you with an i.v.-line and inject the radiopharmaca. Depending on the examination you will have to wait between 20 minutes and 120 minutes for the radiopharmaca to distribute within your body and clear from the blood.
In some case you may be ask to drink oral contrast media for the CT examination performed together with your PET imaging. After the waiting time is over you will be escorted to a changing cabin in which you should drop everything besides your underwear, especially all metal parts. Depending on the examination the PET/CT scan itself will take in most cases not more than 15 minutes after which you can dress again. Before leaving the department, you will be handed a disk with the images of your examination.

In all PET examination we ask you to confirm the appointment one day in advance via phone (+49 (0)228 287 16171), otherwise we cannot guarantee that the radiopharmakon which is individually prepared for each patient is available.
