Study participation Wheat germ extract & depression

We at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the UKB are looking for interested depressive patients to participate in our study "Influence of the novel food 'wheat germ extract with high spermidine content' on the autophagic activity of people with depressive illness"

With this study we want to investigate whether the food supplement "wheat germ extract with high spermidine content" can have a positive influence on the treatment of people suffering from depressive illness. There are initial indications of this in science. At the same time, we also want to find out whether degradation processes (autophagy), metabolic pathways or signalling cascades in human cells are changed. This is done through special blood analyses. Furthermore, we want to investigate whether the intake of "wheat germ extract with a high spermidine content can have a positive effect on sleep quality.

Inclusion criteria for participation in the study are:

  • Non-smokers
  • Age < 45 years
