People with borderline symptoms sought for group psychotherapy study

Gruppenbild Studienteam Maap

Do you suffer from aggressive impulses, feelings of anger, or irritability? Then take part in our study!

Aggression is a widespread problem among people with borderline personality disorder. Those affected often display aggressive behavior when under stress and get into conflicts with people close to them. They react particularly sensitively to real or perceived social threats or rejection and have difficulty regulating their emotions. They repeatedly suffer from intense anger and other negative feelings, as well as high levels of inner tension. Occasionally, this can escalate to aggressive outbursts, meaning that those affected shout loudly, destroy objects, direct their anger toward other people, or physically attack others.

Starting in fall 2024, the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital Bonn will offer free group psychotherapy to reduce aggression, anger, and irritability. The therapy is part of the Mechanism-Based Anti-Aggression Psychotherapy (MAAP) study funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), which is offered at various clinics in Germany. The study center for the joint project is located at Heidelberg University Hospital. Further information on the scientific background can be found on the DFG website and at www.maap-studie.de.
