Neuropsychology and Intervention
Management
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Silke Lux
Research Interest
We investigate the neural basis of behavior and search for connections between cognitive and emotional functions and their anatomical correlates in the brain in adult psychiatric disorders. We also develop diagnostic instruments and investigate the effectiveness of interventions such as (playful) cognitive training or psychotherapy for the treatment of cognitive and emotional disorders. In doing so, we primarily examine patients (clinical neuropsychology), but also healthy individuals in early to middle adulthood.
Projects/Studies
- Computerized cognitive training as an intervention method for ADHD and depression
- Evaluation of cognitive video game training as an additional treatment option for ADHD and depression
- Investigation of neuroplastic processes and neural correlates of cognitive video game training in depression
- Correlations between physiology, affective processes, and behavior in ADHD
- Gender differences in emotional perception and behavior in ADHD
- Neural correlates of emotional ("decision-making") processes in ADHD
- Development of a diagnostic tool for therapeutic relationships
Methods
- Behavioral studies
- Imaging techniques (including functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI/fMRI) and electroencephalogram (EEG))
- Physiological measurements (SCR/eye tracking)
- Neuropsychological testing
