Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Patients,

I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Department of Epileptology here at the University Hospital Bonn.

For over 40 years, we here in our specialized centre have been treating patients with new-onset or chronic epilepsies, advising those with unclear seizure disorders, and conducting research into the causes, treatment options, and complications of epilepsies.  Since its founding, our Department has achieved a leading, internationally renowned position in epilepsy and brain research by closely linking clinical care and science.

On our website, patients can find all the important information for their visit with us, from scheduling an appointment to a checklist for inpatient treatment. We also provide detailed information on important topics related to epilepsy, our monthly podcast "Scharfe Welle" and an informational film about our Department.

Our many friends and supporters are also kept up-to-date regarding the current status of our scientific work groups. The diverse research activities in our Department have been generously supported for many years by the Verein zur Förderung der Epilepsieforschung e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Epilepsy Research). We are happy for any and all support!

Finally, we have provided information concerning our public events (e.g. the Bonn Epilepsy Forum for patients), the academic teaching offered in the various courses of study, and continuing medical education and training.
