Schwerpunkte
Viele können sich an vergangene Ereignisse klar und lebhaft zurückerinnern. Zugleich können sich die meisten von uns fiktionale Szenarien genauso lebhaft vorstellen. Diese Form des autobiographischen Gedächtnisses und des Vorstellungsvermögens wird von einem neuronalen Netzwerk, gebildet aus Hippokampus, ventromedialem Präfrontalkortex und visuell-perzeptuellen Kortex unterstützt. Unsere Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit den neuronalen Korrelaten des autobiographischen Gedächtnisses und der Imagination. Wir untersuchen diese Netzwerke bei gesunden, jungen Menschen und wie sich diese Netzwerke beim Älterwerden und bei einigen Erkrankungen verändert (z. B. neurodegenerativen Demenzen, Temporallappenepilepsien und Limibischen Enzephalitiden). Des Weiteren untersuchen wir den Zusammenhang zwischen Gedächtnis und Vorstellungsvermögen in Menschen mit einer Aphantasie und Blindheit.
