Germ Cells, Germ Cell Tumors and Sperm
The Department of Developmental Pathology
The Department of Developmental Pathology is devoted to translational research, connecting basic molecular biology with medical sciences. Using modern molecular biology approaches, we address questions relating to mammalian germ cell development as well as germ cell tumors. Lately, we analyze the effect of novel drugs on germ cell tumor cell lines in order to contribute the foundation for novel treatment options. Further, we focus on genes expressed during late male germ cell development, aka. spermiogenesis. Generating 'gain of function' and 'loss of function' animal models for genes involved in sperm cytoskeletal remodeling as well as DNA hypercondensation. Here, we contribute to the understanding of male factor infertility.
