Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology

The institute of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology represents two disciplines (clinical chemistry and clinical pharmacology) in research, teaching and patient care. To the institute belongs also the central laboratory of the University Hospital Bonn, the office of student affairs with the CSSC (core clinical study support) and a phase I clinical trial unit and research groups. 

Particularities

For years the number of analyses is increasing which are conducted at the bedside or in the immediate vicinity of the patient. The point-of-care testing (POCT) is mainly carried out in the hospital contemporary to direct therapeutic implications after laboratory results in life-threatening emergencies, the treatment of diabetes mellitus, coagulation disorders etc. as well as in the operating room.
