Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery
We take care of several sensory organs rgarding hearing, balance, sense of smell and taste.
Our surgical procedures and conservative therapies intend to preserve these sensory functions. If they are deteriorated by some disease we make every effort to restore them. Furthermore we are also confronted with important functions as swallowing speaking and breathing. If due to some diseases especially malignancies anatomical sites must be removed partially or even totally leading to functional impairment, we apply different techniques to reconstruct these delicate anatomical areas to regain function.
We are highly specialized extended cancer surgery.
The majority of our operations are performed with microscopes and endoscopes.
In all surgeries with potential risk of nerve function impairment nerve monitoring is applied during surgery to minimize these complications.
